The National Retrofit Hub (NRH) has published A Vision for a Strong Retrofit System at its Retrofit, Obviously! Summit in London today.
The report welcomes the Government’s Warm Homes Plan but says its success will depend on building the local capacity needed to sustain retrofit beyond individual funding programmes. It calls for investment in people, skills and partnerships alongside work on homes.
NRH also wants residents, communities and delivery organisations involved earlier in shaping policy and programmes. It argues that success should be measured by how homes perform for the people living in them, as well as by the number of measures installed.
The report sets out seven foundations for a stronger system, including long-term direction, local flexibility, shared decision making and lasting capacity. Today’s Summit will give people working across retrofit a chance to test its proposals and discuss what happens next.
