NRH WORKING GROUPS.

Working Group 1 focuses on the data, information, processes and standards needed to enable high quality, scalable retrofit planning and design.

The group examines the retrofit quality assurance landscape and the role of tools such as digital building logbooks in supporting better building performance outcomes. It developed the Best Practice Methodology for Retrofit Archetyping and continues to showcase and refine archetype guidance from across the industry.

Working Group 2 takes a solution agnostic approach to the products, technologies and services that improve and decarbonise buildings.

The group is building a clearer picture of available solutions and where gaps remain. It works on overcoming barriers to supply chain efficiency and enabling innovation, including engagement with retrofit innovation through the RetroNetZero project.

Working Group 3 considers how a robust, skilled and competent retrofit workforce can be developed to meet local need.

The group explores procurement and social value levers, SME participation in retrofit supply chains, diversity within the workforce and the quality and security of retrofit jobs. It also considers how baseline retrofit skills can be embedded across construction training and what is required from local and national government on workforce policy.

Working Group 4 focuses on co designing financial solutions that work across people, buildings and tenures.

The group considers the role of government funding and private finance, and how these can be blended to support delivery at scale. It also examines how wider retrofit benefits can be better valued and evidenced, and works to encourage banks and building societies to take a more active role in supporting residents through the retrofit process.

Working Group 5 maps the current state and scale of retrofit delivery across the UK, with particular attention to the resident journey.

The group identifies what enables successful implementation and works to shape delivery models that function across housing types and tenures. It also promotes access to delivery support and advocates for meaningful community engagement throughout the process.

Working Group 6 focuses on strengthening awareness, confidence and demand for retrofit.

The group explores how policy signals, finance, delivery quality and communications interact to influence uptake. It brings organizations together to examine behavior, trust and messaging, recognizing that demand cannot be separated from the credibility and clarity of the overall system.
