ABOUT THE ROLE

As Senior Programme Manager you will support the National Retrofit Hub to achieve identified objectives by managing and delivering inter-connected projects, collaborating across our network.

Title: Senior Programme Manager
Employment: One-year fixed term contract (with the potential to extend)
Hours: 4 or 5 days per week, FTE 40 hours (other flexible or part time working proposals will be considered on a case-by-case basis)
Reports into: NRH Co-directors
Salary range: £40,000 – £55,000 FTE depending on experience

ABOUT THE NATIONAL RETROFIT HUB
The National Retrofit Hub is a nonprofit community interest company that brings together all those involved in the retrofit sector to share their expertise and work together to enable the local and equitable delivery of retrofit at scale.

The National Retrofit Hub convenes a series of working groups and cross-cutting themes with collectively over 350 participants, each tackling a different element of the retrofit picture. We also conduct support, research and co-design projects, such as Retrofit Connect which helps build capacity for community-led retrofit, RetroNetZero which looks at enabling the uptake of innovative products and solutions in retrofit, and Measuring Outcomes & Impact Evaluation, which aims to influence how retrofit success is defined and measured.
As senior programme manager you will play a central role in the NRH’s small dynamic team, taking responsibility for projects across their full lifecycle – from inception and planning through to delivery, monitoring, reporting and evaluation. You will work closely with our collaborators, network and project partners to bring together the insights, feedback, and expertise to deliver impactful outputs and engagement. You’ll take a hand-on role in coordinating different projects and objectives, managing a varied package of work, and ensuring that projects are delivered on-time, to a high standard, and communicated effectively to our network.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing and delivering funded NRH projects, including managing timescales and milestone delivery, coordinating with project partners, engaging stakeholders, conducting desktop and action research, consolidating insights, testing findings with our network, reporting to funders and supporting the communication of project outcomes.
- Plan, author, design, and deliver outputs, including reports, explainers, graphics, presentations, webinars, and event content.
- Reporting to NRH directors and board on project progress, findings and when additional partners, engagement, or support is needed.
- Identify regular opportunities for sharable moments and potential to demonstrate added value to our advisory panel, board, and wider network.
- Coordinate cross-project activities and help to identify synergies between activities.
- Ensuring effective quality assurance, promoting both internal consistency and external quality and coherence of outputs.
- Work with the NRH Directors to apply for and secure funding for discrete identified work packages.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience within either the retrofit, construction, delivery, project management, procurement or energy sectors and a good understanding of energy efficiency retrofit either from a broad context level, or a more detailed perspective.
- Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring, and controlling projects and programmes.
- A problem solver with the ability to see inter-connected and related issues holistically.
- Ability to work independently, managing multiple workstreams, partners, stakeholders and project goals.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with experience delivering reports or other published content. Graphic communication or design skills would also be desirable.
- Effective leadership, interpersonal, and connection-making skills.
- Demonstrable skill in organising, prioritising, and managing complex and diverse programmes of work to meet project deliverables and timelines.
- Qualification and/or experience relevant to programme or project management, this may be direct project management, (e.g., MSP, PRINCE2, PMP), or as a professional (architect, engineer, surveyor), or through academia – leading research projects.
