The Renew Our Neighbourhoods coalition has published a new briefing calling on government to build on the success of locally led home upgrade programmes and help more low-income households access affordable energy and healthier, more decent homes.
The briefing highlights the need for a more joined-up approach to home upgrades, bringing together energy efficiency, housing repairs and health support where needed.
The coalition brings together expertise across decarbonisation, housing, local home upgrades and inequality, and has reviewed evidence to inform its recommendations ahead of the 2026 Autumn Budget.
The Renew Our Neighbourhoods Coalition is a civil society group with expertise in decarbonisation, housing, local home upgrades, and demographics which are most in need of support and need the most additional support to address their needs. Over the summer in 2026 the coalition reviewed the best available evidence on approaches to retrofit to call on the government take decisive action at the 2026 Autumn Budget.
The coalition is made up of E3G, Centre for Ageing Better, Independent Age, National Housing Federation, Race Equality Foundation, UK100, National Retrofit Hub, UKGBC, Ashden, and Possible.
