MINIMUM ENERGY EFFICIENCY STANDARDS (MEES) CONSULTATION RESPONSE
On 7th February, the Government published its ‘Improving the energy performance of privately rented homes: 2025 update’ consultation, outlining proposed changes to the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES). Key proposals include:
- The use of new EPC metrics to set standards
- Updated cost caps and exemptions
- Revised implementation timelines
- An expanded scope of applicability across the private rented sector
With support from Impact on Urban Health, the National Retrofit Hub has been exploring how MEES reform can support improved health outcomes, reduced fuel poverty, and enhanced comfort for renters. We have convened a group of industry experts and stakeholders to help inform our response.
We invite you to:
- Read our consultation response
- Watch the webinar, where we present our key positions, outline the implications of the proposed changes, and offer guidance for those preparing to submit a response to the consultation.
- Submit your own response, share your insights and amplify our messages where you agree.
The deadline is 2nd May – get your response submitted before then to make sure your voice is heard! Together, we can ensure that MEES reform delivers meaningful improvements for the private rented sector.
